Perlen: the tussles of Switzerland’s last paper-maker

CPH is a family concern, too, that started out in the chemicals sector 200 years ago, has since added the production of newsprint and magazine paper and now also manufactures packaging films. Switzerland’s last paper producer aims to be a cost leader. A pearl based in Perlen?

One church, one restaurant and one vast factory. The village of Perlen, which nestles in the countryside between Lucerne and Zug, lives by the rhythms of the CPH company. The factory building, whose prize occupant is its new paper machine, could easily accommodate a football pitch.
