Last year was the 200th anniversary of the Chemie + Papier Holding, and it was the first time in years that business really ran well. In the last ten years, the company has only posted positive results five times, and its profit has never been as high as in 2018.

The significant increase in earnings is primarily attributable to the largest division, which produces paper for newspapers and magazines. The result has been negative in the previous year and it now benefited from higher paper prices.
