Le Temps – Every year, the Swiss population disposes of a million tons waste paper. More than half of which finds a new life in Perlen Papier's factory.

The paper produced at the Perlen Papier factory consists of 80% recycled paper. Every year, the company recycles roughly half a million tonnes of waste paper. «Recycling paper is four to five times more energy-efficient than using wood» explains Alain Probst, Head of Supply Chain Management at Perlen Papier.

Every year, demand for paper decreases by five to seven percent, the corona crisis has further accelerated this trend – in April and May 2020, demand plummeted by 30 percent, leading to a surplus of paper and a strong downward pressure on prices.
