Perlen, 30 October 2013 – Perlen Papier AG suffered a fire yesterday evening with its winder at the PM4 paper machine. The fire occurred at around 21:30 local time. It was brought swiftly under control thanks to the prompt response of the company’s own fire service, which was supported by further fire services from local communities. There were no injuries.

The fire affected only the winder of PM4, which is located in the same building as the machine. The PM4 itself was not affected by the fire, but has had to cease paper production as a result. No details are yet available of the full extent of the damage.

The PM4 paper machine is used to produce magazine paper, and the fire and its repercussions will mean a temporary interruption in deliveries of this product. The new PM7 machine, which is used to manufacture newsprint, was not affected by the fire at all. The PM7 remains fully available, and no disruptions are expected to current customer orders.
