High prospects: the CPH Group welcomes its new apprentices
Sixteen young people embarked on a new phase in their lives at the end of August. They began their vocational training in nine different units at the CPH Group’s operating sites in Perlen (Switzerland) and Müllheim (Germany).
Perlen, 11. September 2018 – To kick off their basic vocational training, the 16 new apprentices at the CPH Group’s Perlen Papier and Perlen Packaging companies spent a day among the mountain peaks of Central Switzerland together with the Group’s existing apprentice corps. “We wanted to help our new apprentices to get to know CPH and their new work colleagues,” explains Peter Henz, Head of Human Resources at Perlen Packaging. “So we decided to welcome them aboard in very special surroundings, to show them right from the start what a great working atmosphere we have within our Group.”
Three new apprenticeships
The CPH Group plays its part in countering the shortages of specialist personnel by offering a wide range of apprenticeships and providing its own training courses for urgently needed professionals in the technical field. This year, the Group has created three new apprenticeships: for future plant managers, paper technologists and automation engineers. The Group was also particularly pleased to welcome two asylum seekers who had completed their internships to its apprentice ranks.
All places occupied
“I am especially pleased that we have been able to persuade so many school leavers to join us, and have filled all our apprenticeship places,” says Stephanie Rosenast, Head of Human Resources for the CPH Group. CPH currently employs 31 apprentices in its Perlen operations and six at its Müllheim site. The CPH Group further promotes and supports the vocational training route by attending the annual ZEBI Central Swiss education fair, by running its own apprentices’ camps and by bestowing awards on its apprentices for outstanding work performance.
The programme for the latest new apprentices’ “welcome day” extended to a presentation on Perlen Packaging, a hike up the Stanserhorn and a visit to the Pilatus aircraft factory. With excellent weather throughout, the CPH Group was able to offer its latest recruits a truly memorable day with panoramic views of some 200 alpine peaks, along with the best of starts to their CPH training career.
